A huge range of services are now available to locals and businesses including white goods collection, house and garden clearance, pest control and a new handyman service.
Council chiefs said the new service will be carried out by dedicated, experienced and reliable staff.
The handyman service can be booked for a range of tasks including pest proofing, moving furniture, TV mounting, touching up paint and fitting shelves, blinds and curtain rails. Council bosses said older residents nervous about inviting into their homes will have the reassurance that all maintenance staff are Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certified. All of the services are priced individually or by the hour for the handyman service. Services are available to browse and book online at www.walthamforestservicestore.co.uk.
Cllr Clyde Loakes, deputy leader and cabinet member for environment said: “Our new online store is offering reliable and competitively priced local services, giving our residents the peace of mind that jobs will be carried out by skilled, reliable and experienced staff employed by the council.
“The servicestore website has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible, so you can browse the full range of services available, arrange a time that is convenient for you, and book and pay online.”
A total of 11 new services are currently available to book on the servicestore website. Services like the handyman, pest control and white goods collection are perfect for residents who have a job in the home they need to get done, and want it carried out by a trusted local provider. The business service is ideal for people like landlords who own one or more properties and require services like lettings and management service, house and garden clearances and large item collection.
The servicestore builds on the success of the council’s Lettings Waltham Forest service, which helps key workers and other working professionals to across the borough to find good quality local homes at market rent prices. A number of residents and businesses have already taken advantage of the additional services being provided by the council. Resident Jane Harrington from Walthamstow said: “I was impressed by how reliable, helpful and friendly my handyman was, and knowing that council staff are doing the job is really reassuring.”
