Schools in Chingford are being encouraged to show their support for Haven House Children’s Hospice by becoming Happy Helpers as part of international day of happiness on Monday March 20.
The charity wants students and teachers to sign up to the campaign and collectively raise £5,374 - enough funds to help pay for a day of care at the hospice in Woodford Green.
Chase Lane Primary School in Chingford, Brookfield House School and Woodford Green have already pledged to take part and the charity hopes even more will sign up to become Happy Helpers in the coming weeks.
Figures show on average that one child in every school in the UK will have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.
Haven House provides respite care at no cost to families.
Mike Palfreman, chief executive of Haven House, said: “Becoming a Haven House Happy Helper is a brilliant way for students and teachers to support our children and their families in the local area.
“A day of care at Haven House costs £5,374 and we’d like to encourage schools to come together to collectively raise this total and help pay for the care on Monday 20 March.
“We have plenty of creative ideas to help schools with their fundraising. Whether it’s a Mother’s Day Raffle or Easter-themed sports day, the ways you can become a happy helper are endless.”
